Rukaiya is making amazing strides in our program! She has cerebral palsy and can't walk, yet she is just the sweetest little personality, so talkative and very smart! She can independently sort colors and identify shapes. Rukaiya has never been in school, but this past year we worked with her mom and dad to help them understand the importance of her attending local school, even with her disability. This past fall, the parents of Shield City worked together to raise money to purchase her a wheelchair, which allowed her to start being pushed to a local school. Looking to the future, we are working on starting Rukaiya on letters and numbers. She loves to build with the blocks and play with the toy car. Since coming to the center, her fine motor skills have really developed, as well as her speech communication.
